Soccer Practice

Thursday was park day. We walked to the park twice -- once in the morning for playgroup and again in the evening soccer practice. It was a beautiful day. Only spoiled by the fact that I got my first ever bee sting while pushing Lily on the swings!!!! In case you are not aware -- bee stings HURT!!! But at least now I know for sure that I am not allergic. Walking to the park for soccer practice.
Lily has missed the first two games and the last two practices and I think she was a little overwhelmed at practice. She just sat there with her hand in her mouth and complained that she was tired (even though she just woke up from her nap) and didn't know how to play soccer.

She was SO not into it. Emily missed this practice since she was out of town, I am hoping that when Emily comes back Lily will be re-energized and excited to play again.

Even though I got some pictures of her out there "practicing", she spent most of the 45 minutes practice on the sideline kicking dirt.
We were supposed to have a game today, but it got rained out. Hopefully she pulls it together for the next practice and is ready for the game next weekend. But she already told me I could "return her soccer shoes." She is over it. We'll see how the rest of the season goes . . . .

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Wednesday was Chip's birthday. As he requested, we kept it very low profile and didn't do anything too exciting. But Lily and I got started getting things ready Tuesday night as we made his traditional birthday morning coffee cake!

On Wednesday he didn't have to be at work until noon, so he slept in and hung out with me while Lily was at school. As soon as Lily got home he opened his presents -- a few new shirts, a new iphone case and the Cars video game from Lily. Since they love to play Mario Kart together, she wanted to get this game to play with daddy too!

Being silly.

One of the many things she has learned at school.

While Chip was at work Lily and I made his birthday cake. After work (and spin class for me) we were all meeting up at my parent's house for cake and ice cream.

Lily put the "candlesticks" on the cake. She said we needed 10 and she put 10 on the cake.

Notice how all the candles are together at the same little spot. She is so cute.

Happy Birthday Daddy! We love you!

Random Phone Photos

Here are some random photos taken with my phone over the last week. They didn't quite fit into any post, so I decided to just do a "random phone photo post." :) We take a LOT of pictures with my phone since we like to text photos and messages throughout the day to bug Chip at work.

Balloon Festival

Last night we went to the Plano Balloon Festival. We went last year with Patti, Bryan and Emily and had a lot of fun, but it was SO crowded. So this year we decided to go again with Patti, Bryan, Emily, Rhiannon, Ben, Matthew and Carys, but bring our own food, skip the bouncy houses, activity booths, etc. and just set up camp on the grass and let the kids play.

There was SO much more traffic than last year, so we were still trying to park while all the balloons were taking off. We left the house later than planned, so I figured that would happen. Honestly, you have a better view of the balloons from outside the event since you can see them all on the horizon rather than so close, so I really didn't care.

Matthew, Lily and Carys! They were SO excited to see each other. Since Lily had been sick, they hadn't been together for 9 whole days, which is a lot when you are used to playing together 5 days a week!

They were playing some kind of game that involved Matthew and Lily fighting for the love of Carys, the damsel in distress. There was a lot of running, screaming, falling and laughing.

They were cute and Lily seemed to be feeling fine, which was good. I hadn't counted on it being SO hot out, but I did assume she would run around like crazy. :)

Lily trying to give all her friends a ride in Emily's wagon.

The balloons all ready for the Balloon Glow. Seriously, we could have been at any random park anywhere. The kids were just happy to run around and play. They checked out the balloons briefly, but then went right back to running around.
Pretty!
Patti, Bryan and Emily braved the crowds and walked around the event some before we all got there and they picked up fireman hats for everyone.

Lily with her arm around Carys. She LOVES that girl!

Finally, what all the kids had been waiting for -- the fireworks! Just like on the 4th of July events, they all had to crawl under the blanket.

It was a fun night and it was SO nice to see Lily feeling better and off playing with her friends.

Soccer Photos

Today should have been Lily's second soccer game. Obviously she missed last week since she was sick and even though she is feeling much better now, I didn't really want her to play today. She still isn't eating much and the game was at 2:15 on a 95 degree day. I think it may have been too much too soon. But we did get to get all dressed up and go see the team since it was picture day and there was no way I was going to have her miss out on the team photo!

Lily and Emily

Lily is number 3.

Emily and Lily running off to get their pictures. Only teams and coaches were allowed in the photography area, so I'll have to wait to see how the professional pictures turned out.

We left to go home and nap while the rest of the team headed over to the game. I wanted to get a couple more pictures of her before she took off the hot hot polyester uniform . . . for some reason she insisted on taking a picture with her bike helmet on too. She was going for a super sporty look. :)

She is too cute!! Of course, you have no idea the fight I had just to get her dressed. She insisted that they were "shorts for boys" and was not going to wear them. She is not the biggest fan of her blue uniform. Hopefully after seeing everyone else wearing them today, we won't have that fight again.
