Field Trip

Friday was Lily's kindergarten field trip to the Dallas World Aquarium.  It has been a few years since we had been there, so Lily didn't really remember it and she was so excited to go back with her class.  I wasn't an official chaperone this time, but I was able to go down there and meet them.  I am so lucky that I can go down there and experience all this with her and her friends and that my Mom is nice enough to watch Dani all the time for me.  There were a lot of parents there -- in fact, I carpooled with 5 other moms to the aquarium.  We were the "bus" behind the school bus!  It was a great experience.  It wasn't crowded, we weren't rushed and the kids got to see and spend as much time as they wanted with everything.  The class was broken up into groups of 4, each with a chaperone or two -- or in our case, 4!  We had Lily, Natalia, Landon and Zander.  I was there along with Mrs Savitch, Miss Carmen the student teacher and Landon's mom.   So it was easy and fun keeping an eye on the kids!

Zander, Landon, Lily and Natalia with the sloths.   They were just hanging out there in the open, it was kinda crazy.
Walking home after school.  She had such a great day and I'm glad I got to share it with her!

Summer Preview

Lily FINALLY talked me into take her to the pool on Monday.  I only went since Chip was home and I didn't have to worry about taking Dani with me.  It wasn't too warm out, so she didn't last too long.  But she did jump in by herself, swim to the side and got herself out so I was very proud of her.

Crazy

I feel like I say the same thing in every post -- but Dani is just so overflowing with crazy personality that she is constantly amusing me and cracking me up.  She can be frustrating, but she is just so cute and fun somehow all the screaming and tantrums are okay!   Lily has been riding her scooter to school in the morning, so her helmet has been out and Dani LOVES to wear the "ha" aka hat.  She just walks around with a huge helmet on.  I think she knows she is silly and that is why she likes to do it.

She even had to eat lunch with the helmet on!

She put on a crown and said "preee" which means pretty.  She is right!

Kids these days are just not happy with ONE iphone to play on.
I have NO idea how she got into the shopping cart, but when I heard her yelling "help", I knew I had to bring a camera.
She LOVES the bath.  She actually gets pissed on nights we don't take a bath.  So looks so different and cute and tiny when she is wet.

Sunday Funday!

Sunday afternoon -- after another 3 hour nap for Dani and after Lily and I made cookies, did homework, played games, drew pictures, made a Summer fun list and hung out (it was a fun Mommy & Lily afternoon) we went to the park..  Grandma came and met us.  It was a nice outing as long as Dani wasn't trying to climb ladders or walk off equipment. :)

 Look at Lily go!

Scootering home!

Sweet Sisters

Sweet sisters watching Sesame Street together.  I LOVE these two!

Socer Saturday and Bouce Night!

Saturday was another fun and busy day.  Lily and I went to Ben and Maddie's birthday in the afternoon.  Then we hurried home to head out for her soccer game where Lily scored a goal!!!!  I didn't get any pictures, but Maggie's day was filming the game and got a video.  You can see it here:

I always tell her it is not about making goals, so I didn't want to make too huge a deal about it.  But  I was so excited for her.  She has really improved a lot this year and I am so proud of her.

After the game, Lily and I went over to Scott and Sara's house since they had a big bounce house with a slide i their back yard for Ben and Maddie all weekend! Dani stayed home to go to bed and Chip had to stay home to study.  The kids bounced all night and as soon as they took a break, we went out to bounce and slide.  It was a lot of fun!  Lily even slept in until 9:30 on Sunday!!

Rhiannon, Sara and Me

Foodie

This little booger wants to taste EVERYTHING.  It's a good trait to have -- to be so adventurous with food.  But she totally stole my Fiber One bar from me and ate the whole thing.  Good thing she is so dang cute.

(and no, I didn't let her eat it laying down.  That is when I got the pic, but I made her sit up and eat)

Busy Day

Friday I wore Dani out!  I didn't mean to.  She asked (in her little demanding way) to walk to get Lily from school instead of riding in her stroller.  So I let her walk to school and back which is about a half mile walk.  Then we had soccer practice and Dani and Abby ran around an open field for an hour.  The big girls wanted to stay and play at the park, so we stayed another hour or so which meant more running around for Dani.  Then we had an impromptu pizza party at Patti's house after soccer and play.  It ended up being a later night for the girls and Dani was a disaster on Saturday morning and took a 3 hour nap the next day (twice as long as usual).  But she had fun!

Walking to school.

With the big girls at the park  (there were two other girls there selling lemonade)

With Abby at Patti's house -- they climbed in the ottoman after taking everything out of it.

Morning Announcements

Every morning at Lily' school they have morning announcements that are broadcast through the school.  Kids at at the "news desk" and lead the Pledge of Allegiance, The Texas Pledge of Allegiance (YES, there is such a thing and they have to say it daily!) and the school pledge.  They also give some minor news, jokes of the day, etc before handing it over to the Principal for the major announcements.  Lily had been talking for months that her day to be on the announcements was coming.  She was SO excited, so I had to go in and watch her!  It was Landon, Avery, Lily and Josiah from her class.  Landon did the Pledge of Allegiance, Avery did the Texas Pledge and Lily did the school pledge.  She did so good and was so clear and well spoken.  I was very very proud of her.  I have it on video too!    My baby is almost done with kindergarten.  Crazy.

Sleepyheads

Thursday night after putting Dani down, this is what I found in my bed.  These two snoring away.  Chip was supposed to get Lily to bed, but after a day working clinicals at Children's hospital for Chip and school, swim lessons and Girl Scouts for Lily, they didn't make it to Lily's bed!

It's Pool Time

Evert year the neighborhood pools open on May 1st.  Lily has this date committed to memory and has been counting down the days.  So I cant say I was too surprised when I picked her up from school on Wednesday and the first thing she asked was "Can we go to the pool???"  It was a warm day - in the 80s, but it hadn't been warm for long (and by Friday the low was in the 30s with freeze warnings!) so I figured the pool would be too cold.  Plus I really didn't want to have to go get both girls ready for the pool, find all our pool gear, get packed up and head down there in the afternoon -- there wasn't enough time.   But we did stop in while walking home from school to test the water -- it was cold, but Lily thought it was perfect.  :)  She is ready to move into the pool for the summer!

Trouble

Tuesday after Gymboree Dani and I went to Target, just like we always do.  But this time, right as we were starting our grocery shopping (after browsing the clothes and other fun stuff) she decided she was done and tried to stand up and jump out of the cart.  She was buckled in, but that didn't really seem to stop her.  I tried to sit her down, but she just screamed like a psycho at the top of her lungs.  I tried giving her mu phone with a Disney show to watch, but that is already old hat and she didn't want any of it.  All she wanted was "down".   I couldn't even just ignore her and try to shop since she would have gotten hurt as she flung herself from the cart.  So, I carried her screaming over to the Starbucks area to sit for a time out.  I really really didn't want to go home.  I honestly don't think she would have got the ramifications of that at this age anyway and I really needed to get my groceries.  So we got a soft pretzel and sat for a bit.   I eventually got my shopping done, but she was still loud and not happy. . . .  I may have to go without her for a bit until she outgrows this screaming crazy phase.

Trying to get her quiet to eat her pretzel.  Thankfully we are very well known at Target, so most people there knew this wasn't her normal behavior. :)

THEN on the way home, I gave her the squeezer of fruit and bag of yogurt melts she had been eating in the cart.  We do this all  the time, but today she decided to squeeze the pureed apples and broccoli ALL over herself and the seat and dump out all the yogurt on top of it.  The terrible 2's are here early!

Bed Buddies

Lily really really really wanted to get into the crib with Dani, so after her nap last weekend, I let her climb in.  They played for awhile and I could relax knowing they were contained and probably not getting into too much trouble.

Dani's room is PINK -- it's hard to get a good pictures in there since everything reflects the pink! :)
