Relaxing Saturday

Lily's soccer game was cancelled on Saturday due to rain on Thursday and Friday soaking the fields.  But it was a beautiful fall morning -- the first since last Fall.  I was feeling a cold coming on and just wanted to get outside and enjoy the cool fresh air.  So the girls and I took a nice walk around the neighborhood.  We went about a mile, which was all I wanted to do with Dani walking.  It was nice and I can't wait to do it much more often now that it is not 95 degree and humid at 7am.

After our walk I decided to let the girls play in the playroom.  When Dani was born we moved all Lily's toys upstairs to the playroom.  There were 2 good reasons for this.  1.  Most of Lily's toys have tiny parts now and 2.  I wanted Lily to have her own area to play without the threat of a crazy baby tearing everything apart and getting into her stuff.  But Lily hardly ever went to play up there since she never likes to be alone.  While Dani is only 2 now, she is pretty good with not mouthing little toys and Dani likes Lily's stuff more than her own.  So I decided to let the girls play upstairs -- with my supervision of course.   It was a huge success.  Dani LOVED it and Lily loved being able to play with her toys and not baby toys.  There wasn't much fighting and I was able to just relax and watch TV.  It was perfect.

SO much good stuff!

Word Problems & Spelling Tests

This week, Lily's math homework involved word problems.  Word problems.   It is hard to try to make her homework fun when I am cringing inside.  Although, at this rate I'm pretty sure by the time she is in 3rd grade her homework will be way over my head and I won't be much help anyway.
But she rocked her spelling test this week -- and we didn't even practice for it.  But not because we forgot or anything, we didn't know which word list to study.  Thankfully, she is just naturally smart.

Day with Dani

Just another day with Dani . . .

Quality time watching movie.  She, apparently, likes a front row seat.
Pretty sure she is thinking: "What, I had a hard morning destroying the house and dumping all my toys on the floor.  Now, I just want to sit right in front of the TV, watch Goofy and mix some tunes on my DJ turntable.  Got a problem with that?"
Later, she was quite proud of herself -- she got Katy Perry's song "Roar" to play on my phone, Lily's itouch and the ipad.  All at the same time.  It is a huge understatement to say she is obsessed with that song.  It is unreal how many times we have to listen to it.  But it is the cutest thing ever to hear her say "Hear me Roar."

She refused to nap on Friday so she was pretty sweet and tired by the evening and just wanted to relax on Mommy.

And even though she was exhausted from another day being crazy Dani, she still went to bed with a huge happy smile on her face.

Another Lost Tooth!

Lily lost her second tooth on Tuesday.  It's been pretty loose, but I think she was waiting to try to lose it at school.  It is a huge deal when they lose a tooth at school -- they get a special sticker and a "treasure box"!  I've been hearing about this treasure box for a year now.  I was basically expecting a gold plated antique box filled with teeth and jewels.  I was a little shocked to find the big deal box was the world's smallest, cheapest little plastic piece of crap.  But Lily was still super excited and I was happy for her (but bummed I didn't get any jewels).

The BOX and this sticker she got.  The sticker is like three times the size of the box.
Her other tooth has already grown in, so she just has the one hold again.

(Dani didn't want to be left out and has to do everything Lily does.)
It's hard to read, but she wrote another letter to the tooth fairy asking to keep her tooth.  The tooth fairy left her the tooth and two $1 bills covered in gold glitter.

"Peeeeeey Mama"

Dani made mommy pretty or "Peeeeey" and was very proud of my makeover.

Baby Goat

I used to call Dani my "baby goat" since she would eat anything and everything -- foam balls and wooden furniture included.  She's gotten a lot more picky lately, but I did catch her trying to drink vegetable oil in the pantry last week.  Thankfully the lid was on - tight!

Rabbit Food

I'm totally addicted to this salad dressing we bought at the Vail's Farmers Market this summer.  I even have it shipped in monthly since I literally eat 2 salads a day now.   Dani likes it too and is constantly reaching in and sneaking lettuce out of my bowl.  Silly girl, lettuce is for rabbits! :)

Soccer

The Roos didn't play so well during their 2pm game last Saturday.  They are not afternoon players.  Nonetheless, I got a few pictures -- most of them of Lily on the bench.  But we have a nice bench -- a fancy seat and shady EZ up.  We are styling on the sidelines.

Bedtime Stories

When I was a little girl, my parent used to actually read me a book for a bedtime story!

Fresh Air

Chip took Lily to her soccer practice on Friday night and Dani was more than a little upset that she didn't get to go too.  So I couldn't say no when she wanted to go play outside.  The weather is slowly starting to cool down which is nice.

She got a little wet at the water table, but this is a good look for sliding and swinging.

My sweet baby is growing up way too fast!

Good Bye Calli

As I mentioned last week, it was becoming clear that Calli was sick.  I didn't want to admit and was in denial.  She didn't seem in pain or miserable, but the signs were clearly there.  Chip took her into the vet on Friday, the 13th where she was diagnosed with diabetes and likely sever kidney failure.  There wasn't a whole lot of choice in the matter -- sure there were more tests and procedures, but it wasn't fair to put her through all that.  So at about a week before her 10th birthday, we had to put her down.  She was always such a sweet cat.  She napped and laid by my belly the whole time I was pregnant with Lily.  She liked to play and run and have fun.  I do have a lot of guilt about how the cats lost their status and attention once Lily and Dani were born.  They were replaced by my new babies and that wasn't fair.  It has been weird without her here the last few days.   No more tearing up the carpet, scratches on closed doors and on furniture. No more cat enemas and random butt nuggets. No more hairy clothes since she insisted on sleeping in my closet. No more getting woken up with her little cat howls. No more having to leave the faucet on for her to drink. No more bubble wrap on the piano. No more random toolbox in front of Dani's bedroom door. Yeah, Calli was a huge pain the ass sometimes but she was one of my sweet babies and we loved her and miss her terribly.

Poor baby drinking water the morning before Chip took her in.  She couldn't drink enough water, that was one of the major signs.

Dani misses her, but is too young to understand.  She just had fun climbing into the cat carrier with her baby.

Lily on the other hand, didn't take it as well.  That was the hardest part for me -- watching my sweet Lily's heart break.  We had warned her and let her say goodbye that morning just in case Calli didn't come home, but she was still devastated when she got home from school and we had to break the news.  It was gut wrenching.  She ended up sleeping with me that night and last night because she needed the extra comfort -- which I absolutely didn't mind providing.  I kinda needed it too.
