Lake Texoma

Yesterday Lily and I went to Lake Texoma with our friends Patti and Emily and their family. Lily was SO excited! When I told her we were going to go to the lake and on a boat with Miss Patti and Emily, she started jumping up and down and screaming with joy! It was an awesome reaction and if I had know she was going to get so excited I would have filmed it!!!

It was so nice of them to invite us to come with them since they had extra space on the boat (Chip was invited too, but had to work. Since it was a holiday weekend he didn't want to leave the course in case it got too busy). Our gang actually had 2 boats -- our boat contained me and Lily, Patti, Emily & Bryan, Patti's brother, AJ, his wife and son and Patti's nephew. The other boat included Donna and Cole (who are also in our playgroup, so we know them well) and Todd who is Donna's husband and Patti's cousin and some more of their family (did you get all that). They are all fun and awesome people who are originally from New Orleans, but ended up moving out here after Katrina.

Lake Texoma is huge and a really nice lake. It is on the border of Texas and Oklahoma -- only about a hour and 10 minutes away. We had the boat from 4-8, so Lily ended up taking a quick nap on the car ride up to the lake.

At the marina, waiting for everyone to arrive.
Lily and Emily on the boat. Lily loved the boat ride!!

I took a zillion of these pictures -- they looked SO cute with their matching life jackets and sunglasses! In fact, a lot of people thought they were sisters and someone at the dock asked if they were twins!!! Totally must have been the life vests.

Our boat didn't go that fast, especially with 9 people and 3 ice chests, but the girls did get splashed once and I just happened to snap a shot at the right time!

But it was all good -- Lily likes water!

All ready to hit the beach and play in the sand.

Our boat for the evening.

There are lots of little sandy islands throughout the lake, so it was perfect for the girls to stop and play.

Of course, Lily could have cared less about the sand, she just wanted to be in the water. Which was the perfect temperature!

And it was nice since it was shallow for a ways out, so they could run and play in the water. Thankfully Lily never once asked to take off the life vest, so I let her go play and have fun (but I was still close by, of course).

Some of the nice houses around the lake. It was really pretty there -- I felt like I was in the mountains, not on the border of TX and OK!!!!

Having too much fun in the water.

I was up on the boat getting food and Lily caught me taking pictures of them on the sand.

Time to leave this island and go find another one to play on!

She was having fun exploring.

Lily loves Patti! She kept dragging poor Patti back into the water to play with her.

Driving the boat.

Sunset over the lake.
It was so much fun and Lily loved it. Hopefully we can go back again soon and Chip can come with us!! It is great since it is only an hour away -- whenever we miss the beach we can just go play up there. :)

What a beautiful lake and good friends to spend the day with. I agree - the girls looked like they could be (fraternal) twins in their matching life jackets and cute sunglasses. Our friends rented a pontoon boat on Lake Monroe in Indiana on Saturday and we had a good time though the beaches weren't as sandy as where you got to play.
