Lily is Officially A Pre-Schooler!!

Today was Lily's first day of pre-school!!! I can't freakin believe that my baby is at school right now! It is only two and a half hours on Tuesday and Thursday, but it is still a pretty big deal. We've been talking about it all summer, and I really poured it on thick last night so there would be no surprises today. She knew that she was "going to school all by myself." But I was still unsure of how it would all go. One minute she was excited and the next she'd say that she didn't want to go! I finally mentioned that she would get to wear her new school shoes (since sandals aren't allowed) and bring her Princess backpack and that got her all excited. The girly girl thing comes in handy sometimes!!

Of course I had to wake her up this morning and she wasn't really into her breakfast. I even tried to give her Princess graham crackers and goldfish for breakfast -- just to get her to eat something, but she didn't even want those. She said she wanted to go to school. She was ready! So we got dressed, got her backpack on and got ready to go!!

She is SO freaking cute with her backpack on! You can't tell in the photo, but she is super cool since I puffy painted her name on her backpack with silver glitter glue!! (It was supposed to be labeled and I figured every other girl would have the same Princess backpack and I don't have a bedazzler!)

I desperately wanted to get a good photo of her this morning, but of course she wasn't too cooperative.

She had to hold her backpack on the way to school, which I thought was cute. Here she is literally yelling, "No more pictures, Mama!" at me.

School starts at 8:30, but they said to get there early the first few days to walk her into class. We got there about 8:15 (with tons of other people), but the doors weren't open yet. Once they did open, Lily ran in without me. I was shocked!

We were the first ones in her classroom!

She found her name and put it on the Welcome Board.
Her cubby with her backpack and Pooh Bear. All the kids were told to bring a bear or other stuffed animal to school for the first month, then they will "graduate" at the end of Sept. and stay home. We choose to bring Winnie The Pooh.

She went straight for the kitchen again.

I started to say my goodbyes since I could feel myself starting to get choked up and I didn't want her to see my cry! Of course as soon as I start to say good bye, Miss Clutz falls off a little chair and gets upset. I tried not to get too involved, but she ran over to me and said that she didn't want to go to school. Crap. I calmed her down and one of the teachers helped get her interested in building houses and towers with Mega Blocks. It also helped that they were all going outside to play as soon as all the kids got there. Lily really wanted to go play outside. So as she sat back down at the table and played, I said my goodbyes and left my baby!! Of course, I didn't go too far-- I hung out in the hallway with the other Moms and watched her through a tiny hole in the window (they had most the window blocked off, but had small holes so you could see them, but they couldn't see you).
Watching her play through the window. She looked like she was having fun and I never once saw her look around for me!

This lady is an extra teacher just there for the first week or so to help the 2 years olds get adjusted.
My big girl!

I stayed and watched for a bit and chatted with my friends in the hall since I know a lot of people who are going to this school! It was cute, the school had a table in the lobby set up with kleenex and chocolates for the Mom's. I am proud to say I didn't really need it. I did tear up a little, but it was not too bad. I was more hurt that she didn't scream and cry for me!! I mean seriously!! :) But it all went good. I stayed and watched until they went outside to play -- Lily was the very first to run out the door! I am so proud of her. I get to go pick her up in 40 minutes and I can't wait to hear all about her day. I only hope Thursday goes as smoothly!!
