Mardi Gras Part 2 and Extravaganza!!

I got the pictures from Chip's phone and Patti's camera, so some of this is a repeat of the last post, but with different photos!

The first couple pictures are floats from the parades we went to on Thursday night:

Like I mentioned in the previous post, Saturday night was the big night for Endymion. They were supposed to have their parade (but it got rained out and moved to Sunday) and then the big party/concert Extravaganza. We dropped the guys off downtown earlier in the day and didn't see them again until the parade rolled through. But I have Chip well trained and he took lots of photos for me from behind the scenes. :)

Walking through the staging area at the Convention Center to their float.
Their float is a huge three part steam boat. They were on the last section.
Getting all their "throws" in order. They had beads, cups, footballs, etc . . .
One of the Grand Marshalls, Kelly Ripa, going by on her float.

Chip in his costume all ready to go. Everyone on all the Mardi Gras floats have to wear masks. Not sure why -- they are pretty freaky looking.
Me and Dana inside the party waiting for the parade to start.
Patti, Dana and I.
Me and my water. I drank SO much water.
Here comes the parade!!

The beginning of Chip's steam boat float.

Chip is on the top right. He is the second guy in -- the first in the blue costume.

I LOVE this photo. Chip spotted me in the crowd of 20,000 (since he knew where we would be sitting and Patti and Dana were standing on chairs to wave them down). So he pointed me out and tossed me a big stack of beads -- which I caught and of course, kept. The above photo is him pointing and you can see the beads flying through the air towards me. (again, Chip is the second from the right on the top -- in between the two guys in red)
You have to look really closely to see Chip leaning back and pounding his chest. He was SO crazy and animated up there!! If he hadn't pointed me out and tossed just to me, I would have never guessed that was him! He had the time of his life up there!! The experience and adrenaline rush was amazing. He said he felt like a rock star with the huge crowds screaming and waving for him. I know if he gets the chance he will ride again and I am so happy that he got do this (and a little jealous!) :)

It was such a fun night!
Pat Benetar and Train were great and it was just nice to get all dressed up and go out.

Sunday night Chip finally got to ride through the streets of New Orleans. Again, he said it was amazing and the crowds were WILD. They rode from 7 to midnight -- so they got all the late night, drunk crazy people! :) It is a long parade route (not sure exactly of how long, but they go for 5 hours without really stopping) and the crowds were constantly thick the whole way. Here are some photos he snapped of the crowds:
