Saturday Night Celebrations

Saturday night we went out to celebrate Ben and Rhiannon's 12th wedding anniversary!  As always, it was a great night with great friends and since everyone took pictures I may as well post them here to keep forever.

Hi!!!

I noticed earlier in the week when we were at Target that it sounded like Danielle was saying "HI" to people in the store.  So I've been watching her and listening more closely and sure enough she says hi when you say hi to her or walk into a room!  It sounds more like "hhhhaaaa", but it is hi!  On Saturday she shocked me by holding a toy phone and saying "hhhaaa" into it.  She is so smart and getting so old!!  She now says "hhhaa",  "mama", "dada", "na na" or "night night" when she is really tired and "mmmmm" when she is hungry.  I can't believe it - it is so bittersweet.

I got a video of her saying hi into her phone.  It's not the best since she just wanted my phone that I was recording with and I cut off the first "hi", but you get the gist.  I'll try to get better video soon.

Happy Birthday Grandma!

Friday was Grandma's birthday!!  Lily and I started getting ready on Thursday evening by making her a special rainbow cake.  We were both excited to surprise her when she cut it open!

Friday evening we went over to Grandma's house to celebrate.  Since Grandma is SO hard to buy for and doesn't need/want anything, Lily just decorated a mug for her and made her a card.  I felt bad that we didn't have a real gift.   After presents we went out to dinner and then came home for the cake!

Ta da!!  Our rainbow cake turned out pretty good!

Then we played games like catch and  . ..
Headbandz, where you have to guess the Disney character on your head.
My pictures are out of order, but at dinner Danielle ate rice!

Yummy mexican rice!

It was a fun night and I hope my Mom had a very happy birthday!

New Outfit

It's been awhile since Danielle wore a new outfit!  But finally this week she wore this cute new romper I got her!  And she actually sat still long enough to get a couple pictures!

She is crazy.

Random

"Here are some random pictures I took throughout the week:

She may think she is incognito, but she is totally busted elbow deep in the buttercream frosting for Chip's father's day cake.
My little fashionista out shopping.
Danielle sleeping.
Doing homework.

Library

I admit Lily has never been to a library.  It is sad, but true.  She's been to storytimes at book stores and museums, but she has never been to a library for any reason.  In my defense she never really liked to be read to -- she had to read the books herself and make up the stories.  So the $1 books from Target were perfect since the plot of the book was not important.  I've recently bought her real books since she is finally beginning to appreciate a good story and loves her bedtime stories.  Plus, she is learning to read so she is enjoying books that much more.  I figured it was about time to take her to the library -- actually, my Mom figured it was time.  Grandma and Lily had been talking about going to the library for some time now.  So on Thursday afternoon (after Lily's sleepover at Grandma's house) we all took her to the library!

Outside the library!
It is Danielle's first time too!
She would have checked out every single book if I let her, but we settled for five.
Dani was having fun pulling books off the shelf.
Grandma read us a story while we waited for our library cards to be made -- Lily got her own card!!

We'll be back in three weeks or less for more books!!

Father's Day (part 2)

Since Chip had to work on Sunday, we gave him his Father's Day presents on Monday.  Lily made him a card at school and made him a book at home.  He went golfing in the moirning while Lily was at school and then we took him out for a steak dinner.  It was a mellow "Father's Day", but it was just want he wanted.  Lily is so sweet and giving and she likes to celebrate others, so she told Chip that she wished every day was Father's Day.  In response Chip said, "I wish everyday was Lily day" and Lily matterafactly said, "It is!".  At least she is aware. :)

Father's Day/ 10 Month Photos

Since Chip had to work all day on Father's Day, I came up with the great idea to dress the girls in Dallas Cowboys jerseys and take pictures to send to him and post on Facebook for him.  Danielle wore the jersey that Lily wore on Chip's very first Father's Day and Lily just wore one of Chip's jerseys.  They looked so cute!!  It was challenge to get Lily to wear the jersey, but once we were done she did not want to take it off.  Apparently, it is her favorite new "costume".   It was a fun Father's Day photo shoot and Chip LOVED the pictures!  Today also happens to be the day my baby girl turns 10 months old!!!  I had originally planned to take separate pictures of Danielle, as I always do.  But she was no really in the mood and too mobile now for any decent pictures.  So I decided that these Father's Day pics would also count as her 10 month shoot!  I can't believe she is 10 months old already.  I seriously have to start planning her birthday party and I am in such denial.  This year has gone by so fast.  But she is just as sweet and special as ever.  She says "Dada" to everything and says "Mama" when she is upset or really needs me.

I love both my girls so much.

This is how most the pictures turned out.

"Our Daddy is #1!"

And then Lily decided to have some fun in her "costume":

Silly girl!
