Dance Recital

This weekend was Lily's dance recital!  She had dress rehearsal on Friday and her show was Saturday afternoon.  She looked SO cute and did SO good!  I was SO proud of her.  Dance is not her favorite thing -- she likes it, but she is so stubborn and has to always have things her way, that she struggles with learning the routine.  She much rather just go to class and get to freestyle dance for an hour.  This is the main reason I make her continue with classes.  She needs to learn to take instruction and work with a group.  Not to mention, the confidence she gets from performing on stage and the coordination and dance moves she learns.   Honestly, in class she is not the best (not the worst either, but she doesn't really give it her all).  I wasn't expecting much more from the recital.  As long as she got out there and had fun, that was all I wanted.  But she rocked it!!  She gave it 100% and did an amazing job -- the best I'd seen her dance!  I was so proud and happy for her.  Grandma, Grandpa, Daddy and Danielle were all so impressed with how well she did.  Plus this year she had two dances to perform -- a tap and a ballet routine, so she had even more to learn and remember. She looked beautiful up on that stage, I was a very very proud mommy!  And Danielle was so cute -- she sat nicely in my lap for the first 6 numbers, but when Lily's first dance started Dani recognized the song and dance (from months watching at class) and really perked up and clapped and watched her sister.  I really think she knew Lily was up there.  It was so sweet and I am glad that Danielle took notice and enjoyed watching Lily dance.  Lily appreciate it too!

Friday, backstage ready for dress rehearsal:
She hated having her makeup done.  She loves makeup, so you think she would love it, but nope, she only loves it when she does it.  She did not like me trying to put eyeliner on her.

Typical Lily
Tap routine at dress rehearsal.  They danced to the song "April Showers":

I pretty much watched dress rehearsal through my camera, so I didn't see the dances.  But I was impressed with how all the girls are in sync in the photos!

The ballet number.  They danced to "Let's Go Fly a Kite":

She looks so professional.

Saturday afternoon before leaving for the show, I actually had time to get pictures of Lily.

She is so pretty!

Danielle had to get dressed up for the show too!  Patti gave me this outfit at my baby shower and I said then (last July) that Danielle could wear it to Lily's recital.  I never anticipated Danielle being so tiny, so the dress was a little big, but it worked.  She looked adorable as always.

Backstage ready for showtime!!  We aren't allowed to take pictures during the show on Saturday, which is fine.  I got enough pics at dress rehearsal and this way I was able to actually sit back, watch and enjoy the show!

My beautiful dancer.

Abigail and Danielle -- before we know it, we will be going to their recitals too!
After the show we went to the Cheesecake Factory with Grandma and Grandpa.  It was a great afternoon!
Saturday night Lily taking her makeup off with vaseline, just like mommy!  :)
