On Tuesday Lily had her five year check up. It is a very easy appointment -- no shots or anything. Just checking on her eyes, ears and growth. Everything looks great! She is a perfect little five year old (but I already knew that).
Height: 44.5 inches - 82%
Weight: 47.5 lbs -- 85%
She is proportional and growing at a nice even rate. That's my big girl!!

Little Artist
Lily got a late birthday present from Elise yesterday -- paint supplies. It was such a cute and fun gift idea and we had a lot of fun painting this afternoon.

New Entertainment
The same night as her first cereal Chip borough down her activity saucer. I had waited to bring it out since I felt she would still sometimes drop her head and I didn't want her to get hurt. But she was ready for it and SO excited. She quickly figured out how to spin around and play with all the toys. It is SO cute, but so bittersweet. She needs to stop growing up so fast!
On Thursday morning, I busted out the Little Einstein videos. I had a webinar for work and needed to keep her entertained. She was enthralled and watched the whole video while sitting in her swing. Lily was excited to see them out when she got home from school and Lily has had fun watching them with her. Of course Lily thinks they are kinds "scary" and I don't necessarily disagree. They are interesting.
And back in the activity saucer!

Danielle's First Food!
I was really hoping and trying to wait until Danielle was officially 6 months old to start solid foods. Lily started at 5 months and one week since we were going to be out of town in Merced and Monterey (for Ray and Renee's wedding) when she turned 6 months and I thought it would be easier to have food to feed her rather than nurse her the whole time. But for my itty bitty baby Danielle I wanted to wait. However, lately it seemed more and more like she needed something extra to eat. My once wonderful sleeper at night now doesn't sleep at all. Well, not at all -- just not consistently. Once last week she slept 9 hours straight and then another night she was literally up every 40 minutes. Most often it is up every 2 hours which is still NOT good. It is starting to effect me. Apparently I am leaving the garage door open, leaving doors open and just starting to lose it. I don't feel it, but I know it is getting to me. Plus, when she used to wake up she would easily go back to sleep, but lately she wants to eat -- every time. And she eats for awhile. So I thought maybe she was hungry and milk alone wasn't enough. Her doctor agreed it was okay to start her on food. I wasn't planning on it fixing her sleeping habits (and it has not), but I didn't want to starve her either. So I got her some oatmeal. I skipped the rice cereal since it does nothing by constipate them (our doctor, again, agreed with me).
Checking out her new food.
Hmmmm . . .
. . . I think I like this!!
She ate nearly the whole bowl the first night with minimal spills. The last two nights she has scarfed it down and wanted more. She loves it and does not mess around when it is time to eat. As I mentioned her sleeping habits have not improved, but that is fine. This won't last forever and soon I will miss having a baby to wake me all night long. But at least I have no regrets about starting her on food. It isn't too early for her -- she is loving it!

Pizza Chefs
For Lily's class social this month we all met at a local pizza restaurant where the kiddos got to make their own pizzas. As always, Lily had a blast being with her friends. . . . especially since there was pizza and ice cream involved!

5 Years Old!
Today we went to the pond on the corner to take Lily's 5 year pictures. It was pretty windy, so Lily wasn't too thrilled, but I am stil having fun playing with my camera and photoshop lightroom, so they were good enough for me. :) I still can't believe my baby girl is five years old!!

Flat Stanley
This weekend we had to host the Flat Stanley from Lily's class. Since Friday was a beautiful 80 degree winter day (and I was getting over being sick) we went outside to play and get some fresh air. It was also a good opportunity to do "something" with Flat Stanley and take pictures.

Danielle loved being outside. She just rocked in her carrier the whole time.
We even took him to Madison's party!
On Sunday (since I had nothing else to do with FS), we thought it would be fun to take him to the golf course to say hi to Chip and Grandpa and maybe ride in a golf cart. We lucked out that Grandpa was there and not busy -- he took Lily and Flat Stanley out for a ride and a golf lesson.
Stanley is driving the cart!
Golfing!
Then they scared the crap outta poor Flat Stanley by letting Lily drive him around!! All those games of Mario Kart paid off since she wasn't too bad!
She actually drove (or steered - Dad had the gas petal) back to the club house by herself and then they went and drove around the parking lot and back.
I think she has a new favorite pastime!! Look at that smile!
