Life Around the House

So far we are 2 for 2 on efficiently getting out of the house. Thursday morning, bright and early at 8:15 we had 'meet the teacher' at Lily's preschool and then I had a follow up doctor appointment for me at 9:30. I am proud to say we got up and out of the house on time! My mom came to stay with Dani since I didn't want to bring her to school. The meet and greet went great. Lily was SO happy to see all her friends and is beyond excited to go back to school! Once we were done at school, we switched kids with my mom and headed to my appointment. No problem at all! :)

Here are some random photos from the last few days:
Lily is taking a tap/ballet combo class this year and she is loving the tap part! She's been wearing her tap shoes around the house and trying to tap all the time. Thankfully, she agreed to keep it on the quiet carpet. Of course, she had to also make herself a stage out of a blanket.

Ta Da!

Dani actually slept in the bouncer for awhile which was great since it gave me some time to blog and get some stuff done around the house. It is impossible to get much done with her curled up in my lap all day -- not that I am complaining.
Lily adores her sister! It is so sweet.

Playing Hi Ho Cherry-O with Lily while Dani sleeps in my lap.
Hanging with Grandma and Grandpa.

We had to take a family picture real quick since Lily needs to bring one to school. Every year they hang family photos in the class. We didn't have any with the three of us and Dani (where I looked half way decent) -- so I had to throw some clothes and make-up on and get it done!

Bath Time!

We gave Danielle her first bath at home on Thursday night. She got a bath in the nursery the night before we left the hospital, so that gave us some extra time before we had to bathe her at home. Honestly, I was dreading the bath since she hates to have her diaper changed and usually isn't too pleased with a clothing change either. So I figured being naked in water would really piss her off. But, nope, she just relaxed and practically slept through the whole thing! I hope bath time is always that easy!

One Week Birthday

When Lily was one week old, I made Chip stop and buy a cake on the way home from work to celebrate her week old birthday. Really, at the time I was just craving cake and it sounded like the perfect excuse to get me some! So, we had to continue the tradition with Danielle. My Mom and Lily picked out the cake on their way home from dance and we had a little one week old birthday celebration for Dani.
Trying to get a family photo -- the timer went off before I was ready, but I got some great pictures of Chip!

Happy one week Birthday Danielle!

One Week Old!

On Wednesday, the 24th, Danielle turned one week old! I can't believe it has already been a week -- that went by SO fast! Since it had already been a week I figured we were overdue for an impromptu photo shoot.

She is trying to figure out what I am doing to her!!

Danielle at one week!
Not sure if I'll keep this up with the boppy and lamb, but I'll try!
I LOVE my girls!!!

Sleeping Beauty

Danielle spends most of her time sleeping and, knock on wood, most of the time it is pretty easy to get her to sleep. Especially if I just let her sleep on my lap on the boppy -- she'd stay there forever. Here are some pictures of her sleeping from this last week.

She looks so tiny on Chip!
A great way to wake up -- with my two beauties!

Family

As I mentioned before Linda and Jeremy were here for nearly 2 weeks and Uncle Scott came out for a few days too. It made the transition home VERY easy since essentially I only had one kid. I hardly saw much of Lily at all the whole time my sister was here. Lily would go over nearly everyday around noon (or they would come here and take Lily back to my parent's house around 2-3 for Jeremy's nap time) and Lily would stay until about 8 o'clock at night! She had so much fun playing Polly Pockets, watching movies and hanging out with Linda. Once Jeremy woke up they would go swimming outside in my mom's tiny pool. I don't have that many photos since I usually wasn't there. But Lily loved that time she got to spend with Grandma, Grandpa, Linda, Jeremy and Scott. One of her favorite parts was eating dinner with everyone. Even before Danielle was born, we went over a few times for dinner. We were all SO proud of Lily who ate everything my mom made -- rolled up tacos, pork tenderloin, breaded chicken breasts, meatloaf, steak, and a variety of vegetables and baked potatoes!! The chicken, veggies and potatoes she would eat at home, but the beef was very impressive!!! Hopefully she keeps it up and it wasn't just because Aunt Linda was here and eating it too!

The kids are eating Chick Fil-A, but it was the best photo we could get at the time and we wanted one with all three kiddos! :)

Day 6 Stats

Bright and early Monday morning we took Danielle to meet with her regular doctor. My obgyn didn't deliver at the nearby hospital where our pediatricians do rounds to visit the babies, so we just saw the in house doctor at the hospital. I have to admit I was pretty proud of us as a family. It is no secret we are not early morning people and Dani's appointment was for 8:20am (which is pretty early morning for us!). It is hard enough to get just me out the door on time that early, but to have to get Chip and two kids out and fed, pack a diaper bag for the first time in years and find all the paperwork from the hospital that the doctor would need?! But we did it! We were on time and it was all fairly easy! I was pretty impressed. I sincerely hope that it was not just a one time fluke!!

At 6 days old she weighed 7lbs and 3 ozs which put her in the 29% and was 19.25" long which is in the 30%. Her head circumference was 40%. She is so tiny!! Everyone said your second baby is usually bigger than your first and since Lily was in 90-100% across the board, I thought for sure Danielle would be similar. So, I was pleasantly surprised to have a normal to below average teeny weenie baby girl. She is so fun to cuddle with!

I didn't get to take a picture of her at the doctor's office since she was a little fussy. But everything looks great. Her jaundice is very mild and should go away on its own and she seems to be in perfect health! We go back again next week for her 2 week weigh in!

Home

The first night home was a little exhausting. Danielle (just like Lily) would NOT sleep once you put her down. She would be completely passed out in my lap, but as soon as I put her in the co-sleeper next to the bed, she was wide awake. She didn't like the bouncer or the swing either. So, I stayed up most of the night with Danielle sleeping in my lap. The first night in the hospital she slept with me too and then much to my surprise I actually let her go to the nursery for a few hours each night so I could get a little sleep -- I didn't think I'd give up any time with my baby so soon, but an hour or so until feeding time just to catch a little sleep didn't seem too bad. So I really wasn't sure how to get her to sleep or what she would like once we got home! Surprisingly, I was not all that tired after sitting up all night, but Chip was able to take Sunday off work at the last minute and stay home so I could nap throughout the day. Lily, of course was at my parent's most of the time since Aunt Linda was still here and Uncle Scott came to visit too.

Trying out the bouncer.

Asleep on my lap on the Boppy -- her favorite place in the world.
Testing out the swing.
Sunday morning in bed with my girls.

Back on my lap to nap.

Look at that widdle face.
Watching her first Dallas Cowboys (preseason) game with Daddy on Sunday night -- which was also Chip and my 7th wedding anniversary -- although, obviously we didn't really do anything to celebrate! :)

By Sunday night we finally figured out the trick to get her to sleep and probably while she slept well in the hospital nursery -- swaddling! Lily loved to be swaddled too. I am not that good at swaddling, but Chip is the master. Once he got her swaddled good, she slept like a champ! In fact I had to wake her to feed her and we got a pretty decent night's sleep on Sunday! Of course, she still had issues with her bed, the co-sleeper, but she slept fine next to me in my bed and since Chip moved into the guest room in order to get a decent night's sleep, it is all working out ok for now!

We all had to get up early on Monday for Danielle's 1st visit with our regular pediatrician. Lily was pretty tired. Her normal schedule has been way off at my parent's house -- she has been going to bed hours past her normal time, but waking up at the same time. So she's a little slow going in the mornings. Lily crawled from her bed right into ours next to the baby. My original baby looks so huge!!!

Sleeping beauties and sweet sisters.
