Back to Urgent Care . . .

Lily wasn't screaming in pain for no reason. Apparently her ear is so infected the Dr expects it to burst in the next day or two. yippee. Yummy bubble gum amoxicillin is worthless since after 10 days of it, she still had this infection looming in her poor little ear! So we have a new and improved antibiotic, ear drops and antibiotic ear drops to use after it ruptures. I've heard it is not fun when the ear drum bursts and I am not looking forward to it. My poor baby girl!!!

She was SO tired and had a fever at the doctors that was just wiping her out. I had to dance around the room while we waited to try to keep her awake. I did not want her to fall asleep and have it interfere with her nap at home. We weren't even there that long. We immediately got taken to a room and the doctor came in withing 10-15 minutes, but Lily couldn't hang and passed out. Snoring and all.

So annoyed that I won't leave her alone and let her sleep.
Not even my bugging her could keep her awake.
(I had my camera with me, but without the memory card! Since I had updated my blog before we left for the doctors, the card was still at home in the computer. I had to make do with my crappy little phone.)

She even fell asleep in my arms after as I was talking to the nurse about her prescriptions!! I heard a snore and looked down and she was out again! I am just hoping that this is leftover from her other colds and not a new virus to deal with. I so don't want to get sick again!!!!!

Can't Seriously Be Sick AGAIN

Poor Lily is snuggled up against me right now, crying and complaining that her ear hurts so bad! She just finished 10 days of antibiotics on Wednesday, how can she possibly have an ear infection now?? All things considered it was about time. 90% of kids her age seem to have tubes in, and this is the first time ever that she has complained about ear pain, so we've been pretty lucky. But I feel so bad for her, she is so upset.

Before the ear ache started we had been having a pretty good weekend. She had so much fun at playgroup on Friday. Saturday morning we did some shopping. I hated Kohl's in California, but they are nicer here. We had two birthday presents to return and I needed new sneakers badly (I was still wearing the ones I wore for the 3 day walk back in 2002!). After I returned her gifts, took advantage of the stores 50% off sale and used my 20% off everything coupon I got brand new New Balance shoes for $6!! Awesome!!! Lily saw Disney Princess t-shirts that she "had to have", but I am not a huge fan of character clothes, so we compromised and got a nightgown (since I am cool with that).

Here she is modeling her new Tinkerbell jammies that came with slippers and a wand!!
Then last night we all went to hang out at Patti, Bryan and Emily's house. It is so nice that Lily and Emily, me and Patti and Chip and Bryan all get along so well. We had pizza & margaritas and watched the Olympics while Lily and Emily played.
......................
This morning she woke up complaining of ear pain, but still wanted to go to Grandma's. So we went to my Mom's as planned and she was more than happy to pose and model her outfit for me before we left:

But we cut our visit a little short since her ears started to really bother her. Here she is right after we got home:

Busy, But Boring

Again, I apologize for being a bad blogger lately. Sadly, I am still recovering from my sinus infection and trying to get things back on track and we haven't done anything exciting at all, but I have been super busy! Being sick leaves a lot of work undone!

Tuesday after school Lily and I went to drop off some supplies and treats for my friend Beth who is on bed rest until her baby comes in July. Then we stopped by my Mom's house to say hi and I ended up cleaning her house (which I was happy to do since I haven't been able to in awhile). Then I worked for 3 hours while Lily napped and then I cooked dinner!! Sure that doesn't sound all that miraculous, but I think the last time I cooked dinner I blogged about it and when was the last time you read a blog entry about me cooking? I think it was in 2008. Seriously. I made chicken, rice, carrots and green beans and it was pretty yummy. Lily didn't eat a single bite, but Chip was thrilled! Since Tuesday and Thursdays he gets home early (if you consider 7:20 early), I can try to have dinner ready on those nights. At least that is my plan for now.

Wednesday I started cleaning the house. It hasn't had a good cleaning since Christmas! We had Lily's party, then went to CA and then have been sick ever since. Needless to say, it needed a good cleaning. Plus, we are hosting playgroup on Friday, so this was good motivation to finally get it done! I scrubbed and bleached the kitchen, bathrooms and floors. I also did TONS of laundry, paid bills, finally got all my tax stuff together, wrote thank you notes (since Lily is STILL collecting birthday presents from friends), and worked for three hours.

Today I worked while Lily was at school, and then we went to the the vet for cat food, the post office to mail off my tax stuff to the accountant and to the store for groceries. Once we got home I did dishes and more laundry and dusted; worked another 2 hours during nap time, made cookies for playgroup, made a lasagna for dinner(!), cleaned up and organized all the toys, swept the garage (since we are keeping our playgroup on the down low and sneaking people in through the back -- our old playgroup is meeting at Carey's down the street!), vacuumed the house and finished the salad and rolls for dinner. I am exhausted, but it feels good to finally have the house clean (every room, but our bedroom), the mail sorted and food in the fridge. I am looking forward to seeing all our friends at playgroup tomorrow and maybe relaxing some!

Here is a picture of Lily from Tuesday -- it was Pajama day at school!! :)

Birthday Parties

We had three birthday parties to go to this weekend! One on Friday and two on Sunday -- and all 3 of them we at 3:00 in the afternoon. Since Lily naps from 2-5pm, 3:00 is the worst time to have a party!! Friday was Samantha's (playgroup friend) at Chuck E Cheese and Sunday was Sawyers (playgroup friend) at a local Gymnastic place and also Blakes (school friend) at another gymnastic place. Obviously we couldn't be at both, so I let Lily pick and even though she has known Sawyer longer and all her playgroup best friends (Emily, Trent, Elise, etc) were going to be at Sawyer's, she choose Blake's party. I thought she may regret this choice, but she was so excited and even up to the last second had no regrets. That class of kids is SO tight! It is so cute to watch them all together! Apparently the first year of school is quite a bonding experience.

Friday I was feeling better, but not great and I wasn't sure we should go to Sami's party. Lily was kinda bummed, so I told her we could go out and get ice cream and like magic she totally forgot the party! It is kinda funny that worked so well, since Lily doesn't like ice cream! :) But we went to Wendy's and got a kids frosty and she was so happy. She ate a few tiny bites and decided (as usual) that it was too cold and she didn't want it. But she was still happy to have gotten it and all was good. :)

Yummy frosty!

Here is a random picture of Lily playing. She LOVES the little Disney play sets and little princesses. Between Christmas and her birthday she has accumulated quite a lot and she decided to bring them all over to the table to play. I thought it was cute, Chip said seeing all those little toys gives him heart palpitations.
They all fit into a shoebox sized container.
We're not even done collecting -- she doesn't even have the seven dwarfs yet and that is currently her favorite! :)

Another random picture of Lily from Saturday as we were heading to get some much needed groceries and supplies. It was kind of tiring, but nice to finally get out of the house! I thought she looked so cute in this outfit that Aunt Susan and Uncle Shawn sent her for her birthday:

...................
And, finally, a photo from today as we were leaving for Blake's party. I managed to get her down for an early nap and she slept for a little over an hour and a half before we left. So it wasn't all that bad. She had SO much fun, it was a great party and I think she made a good choice in choosing to go with her school friends today.
I am feeling a lot better. I still have some head congestion and it is obvious that the sinus infection is not completely gone, but I am not tired all time and the headaches have gone away! Yeah! I even managed to clean up the house some today which is totally needed!

Our Sick Week

We're still sick here. Well, Lily isn't really sick anymore. The antibiotics really helped her out! But I am still sick and I finally went to the doctors yesterday to get my own batch of antibiotics. I have been SO tired all week. It has been hard to even sit up and keep my eyes open. My ears hurt and my throat was hurting so bad that it was hard to talk for a few days. So, I've pretty much been camped out on the couch amongst a disaster of toys and crap while Lily plays and watches way too many movies! But I do have some random photos from the last week to share:

Valentine's Day was pretty low key. I was not feeling well, Lily was still sick and Chip had to work. He actually did get to come home early, but I think he studied while Lily and I rested. It was an exciting day. :)

Chip bought Lily a bear as he has every Valentine's Day since she was born. And I got her some books and jewelry from the Target dollar spot -- I really don't want any more toys here!!

She was excited to have presents.

Chip I and I agreed not to buy each other anything, but he bought me roses and candy. And I bought him candy too (sugar free!).
.............................
Apparently Monday was Britney's birthday. At least, that is what Lily said and she set up a little party around Britney. :)
Britney stayed and cooperated until I came in with the camera.

...........................
Lily did get some candy for Valentine's Day. Chip bought her M&Ms and she got a few pieces of chocolate from her class and playgroup party. But by yesterday it was all gone and she really wanted chocolate. I didn't really think about it hours later when she asked for a granola bar so I was surprised and annoyed to find that she was only picking out the chocolate chips and leaving the rest of the granola bar behind!
Smart, sneaky little girl!

.................................
Suddenly she is all into have her hair in ponytails and pigtails! I am so excited!! I'm not sure how long this phase will last, so I have to take and post as many pics now as I can. Here she is yesterday before we left for my Dr appointment:

That is all for now! I am going to go rest now.

Third Doctor Visit in Three Weeks

So maybe we we had too much fun in the snow, as Lily seems to be either sicker or sick again. Her last cold had never 100% gone away. She still had a slight cough and runny nose, but seemed to be on the mend. Yesterday morning she woke up sounding terrible and with cloudy mucus, so since our Dr is open on Saturday morning for sick visits and it had been over 2 weeks already we took her in. The doctor said her chest and lungs looked great (which is what Chip was concerned about), but she did have a little fluid in her ears, although that doesn't seem to be bothering her. We have been SO lucky with her -- knock on wood -- she has never had an ear infection or really any major sickness. So I guess we are just making up for lost time now. The doctor couldn't be certain if this was the old cold or a new one. But since it had been 2 weeks and since she is hardly ever on antibiotics, they went ahead and prescribed her some (bubble gum medicine -- my favorite as a kid!). So hopefully this will all clear up and go away for good soon. After the doctor's we went out to breakfast since Chip took the morning off to be with us. It was nice to actually have a weekend breakfast out as a family. :) It was also neat driving to the doctors and seeing all the millions of snowmen out! I think the population of our city tripled with the addition of snowmen. It looked like everyone headed out to the park to play too, which I didn't even think of -- we'll have to do that next time. Sadly, yesterday afternoon the sun came out and it warmed up and most of the snow melted. We still have our little LilyMan in the back and some patches of snow, but we didn't go out to play yesterday since we wanted Lily to rest and relax. Plus, now I think I am getting sick AGAIN! Argh. So far 2010 has been pretty sucky.

The best part of yesterday was that Lily actually asked me to put her hair in a ponytail!! It has been nearly a year since she let me do pigtails and I am usually lucky if I get to even brush her hair without a fight. So I was super excited to do a ponytail. She looked so cute and so old!

Chip measuring her.
With all the sickness and traveling and all, we haven't even gone in for her official 3 year appointment yet (although there are no shots or anything, so it is not that big of a deal)
But yesterday she weighed 34.5 lbs and was 39 inches tall which according to a calculator I found online puts her 79% for weight and 85% for height!
Waiting for the doctor.
I just kept taking photos since I was loving her hair. :)

Hopefully she lets me do it again soon!

At home resting and watching "Snow White".
Last week it was all about Aladdin and Jasmine (finally off The Little Mermaid and Ariel for now) and this week it is Snow White.

Even More Fun in The Snow!

Wow! My third post of the day! We've been having so much fun with all the snow and it is easiest for me to just post when I have a free minute rather than wait since it takes SO long to upload photos, and you know I have way too many photos!

Before Lily's nap we went out again to play and our snow family was already starting to melt and fall apart. :( It got above freezing today (a whopping 38 degrees) so all the snow came off the trees and the streets and concrete melted. But I am sure we'll have snow in the backyard for at least a couple more days. Anyway, I snapped a couple up close shots of SnowMe and SnowLily since SnowDaddy had already lost his head! Oops.

I had broccoli eyes, carrot nose and a red ribbon for a mouth with a flower clip in my hair.

Lily had the same facial features, a headband with a bow and conversation heart buttons.

Here Lily is looking through the snow for Chip's car keys. Yes, he lost his car keys and we can't find them anywhere! He doesn't think he had them on him last night while we were out playing in the snow, but this is the spot where he made his snow angel, so who knows. . . maybe there are here somewhere in all this snow!
(He has only lost his keys one other time in his whole life -- and it was in the snow!!)

For some reason she really wanted to play in the front yard today.

She was having too much fun, but it was cold and she was getting wet! Next year I'll have to buy her snow pants (of course if I do that we won't get any snow at all).

Getting ready to throw that snowball at me!

I like these pictures because it looks like she is in a vast field of snow . . .

There is just so much snow!!!
.....................
After her nap, once Chip got home she wanted to go out and play some more. Again, she wanted to go out front and I got the brilliant idea to "sled" down the front yard on a trash bag:

The slope needs to be just a tiny bit steeper and it would work better! :)
I was the only one cool enough to attempt this.

Lily just wanted to walk up the snow and down the steps over and over . . .

. . . . up the snow.
