Outfits!!

Until I wash Lily's old 9 month clothes, Danielle won't really have many new outfits to wear, we've pretty much gone through all her clothes.  But on Wednesday for dance I got her into this 3 month dress.  She had worn it back when she was 3 months old, but I forgot to take pictures then.  :)  It was a little short, but nothing a cute ruffle diaper cover couldn't fix!

And Lily (and I) liked this outfit she wore to school on Thursday, so I had to take her picture too!

There was no school on Friday, for Good Friday, so Lily dressed up like Katy Perry and did her own hair and entertained us all day with her singing and dancing:

Tornadoes

Tuesday, we had plans with Rhiannon, Carys, Matthew and Abby to meet to play after school as we try to do on most Tuesday and Thursdays.  But about 1pm (an hour before pick up from Stay and Play) a tornado touched down in South Dallas.  It was a pretty significant twister - especially for Dallas and it was on the ground for a good 30 minutes.  Even though it was still a ways away, the storms were headed north in our direction, so we decided going to play at the little houses and getting ice cream probably wasn't the smartest idea.  Instead they all decided to come to our house.  As soon as I got home with Lily, I got a call from the "weather call" service alerting us when a tornado is threatening our exact area and we need to take cover.  And as soon as Rhiannon drove up the sirens started going off.  So we quickly grabbed all 5 kids and crammed into our little closet under the stairs -- the only interior spot in out house to take covers in storms.  Having friends there made the whole event kind of fun.  We ended up having to go back in two more times as the sirens kept going off.  The last time, Rhiannon smelled sulfur outside which apparently is a major sign that a twister is approaching.  Honestly, I was terrified to move here with the threat of tornadoes, but I have never really been scared.  I do always take cover, but it really isn't all that scary for me. It may be different next year with Lily in school -- since the "big kids" were still in school at 2pm, all the local schools went into lock-down mode and you couldn't pick your kids up until 4pm when the threat was over.  It is a good thing, so no one is out driving around and the kids are as safe as can be, but I'd still want Lily with me.  Thankfully we had no damage or twisters up here.  But, there were 14 different tornadoes that touched down in the metroplex on Tuesday, April 3rd. The biggest an F3!  None were in our county, but there was major damage all over the Dallas area. 

The whole gang all crammed in the closet!  The kids brought in snacks with them.  The most exhausting part of the day was just feeding off the adrenaline of the kids.  They were SO hyper.  I think it was part fear, part excitement, part just having fun with friends.  But the energy level was at its highest!!

Danielle didn't get to nap since I wasn't about to put her upstairs in her bed only to wake her every 10 minutes to go in the closet, so she was pretty pooped by the evening.  It was Danielle's first tornado warnings!! :)

Blocks

I brought down another one of Lily's old toys this week for Danielle to play with.  It seems like Lily was stacking blocks by this age, (but I could be wrong about that), so I figured it was about time to give Danielle the opportunity to learn!  This alligator with blocks was always one of my favorite toys, so I was pretty excited to get to play with it again.  Of course, Dani was most interested in putting the blocks in her mouth.

Sleeping Beauty

Saturday Fun Day!

Saturday I tried to have a day of fun for Lily. On Friday night she said I wasn't as much fun as Daddy since he plays with her whenever he is home, while I work and do other things.  It's not really a fair comparison since Chip is home with her for about 10 minutes a night, while I am home with her all day, everyday.  So of course he plays hard with her for 10 minutes.  I play with her way more, but it is not every time I am home, and that is all she is seeing. But she is only 5 and I didn't really take it personally.  When I asked what I could do to be more fun she said there were 3 things -- 1. work less, 2. make cupcakes or cookies with her and 3.  tackle/wrestle with her on the floor.  :)   I have been working less around her since I get a lot more done now that she has started Stay and Play on T/TH at school.  I often tackle/wrestle her on the floor, so that is fun and easy.  All I have to do now is make cupcakes or cookies and I am the fun mom again!

So we started out Saturday by getting dressed up and going to the neighborhood Easter egg hunt.

Dani has started clapping her hands in excitement!  She is excited here because Lily walked into the room.  This is seriously the look on her face whenever Chip or Lily are in her eyesight.  She is ecstatic.

All ready to hunt eggs!  Lily was a little disappointed since none of the neighborhood kids she knew were at the hunt, but she made the best of it and scored a lot of eggs filled with stickers and tootsie rolls.

Plus she got cookies at the event!  

After the hunt we went to the store to buy supplies.  We decided to make cookies today and make cupcakes next weekend for Easter.

She said she had a great day.  And it was a fun day!  I just hope one day that she realizes how much I do for her, how much I play with her and how I go out of my way nearly everyday to take her to play dates and stuff.  I am sure she will -- I have it all well documented here in this blog! :)

Sisters

Sweet playtime for my favorite girls.  They were watching Baby Einstein and playing around.  They adore each other.

Abby came over to play on Tuesday.  She was bringing me a book and sitting in my lap so I could read it to her.  But then she decided it would be more fun to sit in Danielle's lap.  It was cute.  She more sat right next to Dani, rather than on her and Danielle didn't care one bit.  She loves her friend.

Mum Mums

Danielle loves her mum mums!  She still isn't sure about cheerios and puffs, but these rice rusks are a huge hit.  They are great for keeping her entertained when we are out to eat or out at playdates.

Tuesday after school we were supposed to meet Matthew, Carys and Abby at the park, but they all came to play at our house instead.  Then we went to get our pictures taken in the Bluebonnets by Rhiannon and out to eat at BJ's with the whole gang, -- Us and Chip, Rhiannon, Ben, Matthew, Carys and Abby.  It was a busy and fun day:
