Eddie Vedder!!

My man Eddie Vedder came to town Thursday night to do a solo concert, so of course I had to be there.  Just as all his shows, it was incredible.  He really is a great performer and did a good variety of songs from his solo albums as well as Pearl Jam stuff.  He played for 2.5 solid hours and did two encores -- I wish he played longer!  I got tickets through the fan club, so we had pretty decent seats.  We were dead center and I have to wonder if he planned to look like an angel to those sitting in  the center as the random wings things in  the back of the stage lined up perfectly!

And before the show, Chip met and took a picture with Texas Rangers pitcher, Derek Holland.  So I think that helped make the show more tolerable for him.

Thanksgiving Feast

Wednesday morning was the Thanksgiving Feast at Lily's school.  Some of the staff dressed up like pilgrims and they served turkey, stuffing, gravy, rolls, mashed potatoes, vegetables and cranberry sauce.  It was shocking edible!  Dani particularly liked the potatoes and cranberry sauce!  Lily opted for the chicken tenders.  It was fun and nice to show Grandma the school.  Afterwards we went to the book fair and got a little Christmas shopping done.

Happy Birthday Grandpa

Tuesday was my dad's 60th birthday!!  We celebrated by going out to Cheesecake Factory (where Dani ate nearly a whole frickin pizza!) and then coming to the house for presents and lemon meringue pie.

Dani has pretty much mastered the iphone.
Reading books with Grandpa!
Poor Grandpa got gypped on the presents.  I ordered him a pair of his favorite lined winter pants, but they didn't arrive until the next day.  Lily bought him mini marshmallow guns, but I forgot to buy marshmallows!  Sorry grandpa!!
But they didn't need marshmallows.  They had fun playing with the packaging.  Lily and Dad had a "sword" fight with the cardboard backing and Dani didn't want to be left out so her and my mom fought with the plastic casings (and then Dani proceeded to just hit my mom with it which was entertaining).
But the guns went to good use after all since my Dad used them to help blow out his candle!!

Happy Birthday Grandpa!  We love you!

Vampires!

Lily had a playdate with her new school friend, Logan, this week.  They were having fun doing makeovers and putting on fashion shows.  But then things got weird when they decided to become vampires and do vampire makeup!  I have no idea where this vampire obsession came from -- Lily has told me before that they hang upside down from the bars at school and play vampire bats.  Logan's mom seems as surprised as I am.  But it sure was funny to watch them dance around and pretend to be Vamps.  Little weird-os.

Christmas List

Lily was going through catalogs and circling items she wanted for Christmas -- mainly electronics (ipods, ipads, laptops, Nintendo DS) and One Direction dolls.  But then I saw this -- she circled the Disney and Barbie logos in the coupon section which cracked me up.  Apparently anything Disney or Barbie is good!

Burrrr

Fall is here, which means daytime highs in the 60s which is great.  But at 7:35 am it is in the 30s which is pretty dang cold!  So we get all bundled up to walk to school among the frosted roofs and grass.  It is fun for now, but I am not looking forward to it getting any colder!

Gobble Gobble, I Mean Ho Ho Ho!

One of Lily's homework assignments this week was to disguise a turkey so that he could hide out and miss the Thanksgiving Holiday -- Turkeys do not like Thanksgiving.  I wish I thought to take a before picture of the turkey so you could see the transformation, but here is the after.  He is a Christmas Tree.  Actually he is a whole Christmas scene since we needed to disguise his tail feathers and made them a snowy backdrop.  Lily did 97% of the work on this with the help of my scrapbook supplies.  I think he turned out awesome!

Climbing

Look who has to climb up the stairs all by herself now.

GOAL!!!!

Lily had her last soccer game of the Fall season this last weekend and she made her first goal!!!!!!  Technically the ball kind of ricocheted off of her as she was standing in front of the goal, but she kinda kicked at the ball and it went in!!  It was pretty exciting and a great way for her to end the season.  I am hoping it gives her the confidence to try for more goals next season.

Coach Greg couldn't make it to the game, so we had Coach Rhiannon and Asst Coach Abby!
GO Lily!!!

School Lunch

It took a few months, but Lily finally asked if she could buy lunch this week.   I never really cared if she did or not, but I didn't push it since she was eating pretty healthy lunches packed by me and I knew being the picky eater that she is, she probably wouldn't like the cafeteria lunches much.  But since Thursday was Grilled Cheese day, we thought we would try.  I went with her to walk her through the fist time.  They don't take cash, all the kids have a 5 digit code they have to remember that has money attached to it (I have to add the $$  obviously).  So I wanted to make sure she remembered her number and everything.  It was a waste for me to be there since her teacher and the cafeteria lady were there and Lily knew exactly what she was doing.  But it was still nice to have lunch with her.  We both got grilled cheese, broccoli and carrots.  It wasn't that good.  And Lily wanted me to pack her a lunch for Friday!  But we tried and I'm sure she'll try again on chicken nugget or pizza day!

My Little Bug

Dani was out of her "enclosure" the other day and had so much fun just getting in and out of Lily's chair and playing at the table.  I know it may not seem like much, but I just marvel at how much she has grown up, especially the last few weeks.  It is crazy.

Playing at the Parks

We have had beautiful fall weather all week so we took advantage and went to the park 3 times -- actually three different parks.  On Monday night Lily, Dani and I walked over to the neighborhood park for some play time before dinner. On Wednesday we met Emily, Matthew and Carys at a park after Lily's Dr appt to get her flu shot and on Friday we stayed and played at the school playground with her school friend Cora.  It has been so nice to get out.  Of course Lily loves it, but Dani is beyond thrilled to run around and play!!   It is too cute and slightly exhausting chasing her around.

Dani's first time in the park swing!

I know it's blurry, but I still love the above picture.

Dani had a blast playing in the dirt at the school playground on Friday and was a total mess.  The pictures don't do her justice, but she was totally that baby with the snotty nose caked in dirt.  It was a successful trip to the park!

Foggy

We took this picture walking to school this week.  It was a super foggy morning which made it kinda fun since we couldn't even see the school as we were walking toward it!

Soccer!

Saturday morning was Lily's second to the last soccer game for the Fall season.  I like these pictures because they make Lily look like a super star athlete . . . which of course she is in my eyes!!

Really concentrating for the kick off!

Fall Festival

Friday night was the Fall Festival at Lily's school.  They had a chili cook off and cake baking contest (we'll have to participate next year), carnival type games, bounce houses, etc.  Lily was so excited to go!!

Lily and her friend Natalia did this tug of war type thing.  They are both tied to the same rope and are trying to pull the other one to the center.

It's a blurry picture, but Lily is at the fast pitch booth.  The radar gun read 93mph after her throw . . ..   I think they adjusted it for the kids! ;)
Of course Dani was there too -- just chillaxin.

Emily, Lily and Elise
They also had a book walk (like a cake walk, but you won books) that Dani participated in.  She was SO cute walking around the circle.  Bryan took these pics for me with his phone, so they are not the best, but you can tell how totally cute she was!
