Summer Reading Kick Off

Since Lily can read (and should read more), I thought it would be fun to take her to the Summer Kick Off at the Library and get her sign up for the summer reading program -- just like I used to do when I was little.  Sophie, Katie, Ruby and Julie met us there so the kids had fun playing and checking out books together.

 They had glitter tattoos.
And Rita's slushies, which was the main event for Dani.

Dani was pretty clear that she rather eat her "ice cream" than pet animals!!

Everyone got to pick out a free book to keep.  Lily got Kit, the American Girl book and Dani got a Potty Training book -- I hope she reads it soon!!

 So scholarly.
When it was time to go Dani really wanted to check out this book "with the baby" with her OWN library card.  So I gave her a Justice coupon and let her get in line.  Thankfully, the librarian was a good sport and checked her out.  :)

Groovy Smoothies

While Lily was at her last day of 1st grade, Dani had playgroup at the local Market Street.  The kids all got to make their own smoothies.  They set up an area with actives and we sang songs (i think the other shoppers thought we were nuts) and we all made fruit smoothies.

Showing all the different fruits to choose from.

Dani knew exactly what she wanted -- strawberries, blueberries and bananas!
(and she wanted it to be pink!  So we went easy on  the blueberries.)

Last Day of School

I can't believe my baby is already done with 1st grade!!  Talk about growing up too fast!  She had a great first grade year and absolutely LOVED her teacher, Mrs. Spann.  It makes it hard to move on.  But she (we) made so many new friends this year that it is kind of exciting to start a new class and potentially meet more new friends.   She finished out the year reading well above her grade level and excelling in Math.  Her report card was either all 3's or 4's (average to above average).  We are so proud of her.

(her handwriting still needs some work) :)

Some of the regular walkers (us included) pitched in for a gift for Mr. Steve, our crossing guard.

After school some of the moms (me included) organized a little party with food and games (I brought out that tug of war rope again!) to celebrate the beginning of summer!!  We are SO lucky to have some amazing friends and neighbors.
 The gang
Joshua, Jackson, Ethan, Charly, Macy, Abby, Joe, Lily, Tanner, Brendan, Courtney, Avery, Sam, Caroline, Drew, Sophie, Harper, Ella, Christopher, Matt, Rawan, Raya, Katie, and Dani are all in there somewhere!
Dani had a blast chasing bubbles with Joe and Tate!
We are ready for summer fun!!!

End Of Year Party

The entire 1st grade class had their end of year party the Wednesday before the last day.  Since I am a party mom, I had to help plan the party and run a game.  I got a tug of war rope for the party which was a huge hit!!  But since I was stuck there most of the time, I didn't get a lot of other pictures of Lily with her friends.

I think they all had a blast!

Nutella

Dani got her first taste of Nutella. . . .  I think she liked it.

Bridging Ceremony

Monday night was Lily's final Daisy meeting and Bridging Ceremony to become a Brownie.  Lily has decided to continue on with the Girl Scout program and become a Brownie, even though some of her troop isn't. I am kind of surprised by her decision, but it should be more exciting as they get older and get to do more fun things. She looks so cute in her completed vest.
