Lily's Birthday Party #2

This morning was Lily's birthday party with the neighborhood playgroup. We had 10 moms and 16 kids! I think everyone had a great time! Lily was being Lily and stuck next to me most of the time. But she didn't fuss and seemed to enjoy just watching everyone play and tear apart the house! :) I made cupcakes last night and we had pizza, fruit salad and snacks to eat! The good thing about this age is that you really don't have to plan much to entertain them -- I just set out Lily's toys and they had a marvelous time!! While our new friends don't even compare to all the wonderful friends and family at home that were with us to celebrate Lily's birthday last year, I do feel extremely lucky to have met so many wonderful new people in such a short amount of time! We have only been here 6 months. I would have never dreamed that I would be able to have such a party for Lily and that everyone we barely met would be so excited to help celebrate her birthday!

My yummy cupcakes. I made them yesterday afternoon and as I was cleaning up, I noticed a small cup full of egg whites that were supposed to be in the batter of the vanilla cupcakes cooking in the oven!! What an idiot! Chip was nice enough to run and get me another box of vanilla cake mix (what? you didn't think I made them from scratch?) and I had to start all over. I was so frustrated! :)

All set up and ready for our guests!
This is what we put in the favor bags -- an Elmo book (one of 4 different stories), a Mickey Mouse puzzle game, bouncy ball, generic play dough and some fun glasses!!

Lily just sat there with her tongue sticking out as we all sang Happy Birthday to her

Of course she did not eat this cupcake either! But she did like playing with the candle after Dylan helped her blow it out!

All the excitement made Lily fall asleep in her chair! Just kidding, but she did put her head down for awhile and laid there watching everyone

Everyone is gone -- just the enormous mess is left! A few people offered to help stay and clean, but it is easiest if I do it since I am so particular about keeping all the toys together with the right parts!

Now that everyone has left, Lily is ready to play!!

It was good party, but I am exhausted. After the holidays and cleaning up from the holidays and then we hosted playgroup yesterday and the party today. I am ready for a vacation -- or at least a day to veg out with my feet up! :)

Veg out! I'm tired just reading about all you have done this week! You have been super-mom and Lily will have many happy memories to look back on from her 2nd birthday.
