Goodbye Britney

Britney was my first baby.  Chip and I had been dating less than a year when we adopter her at 6 months old on March 17, 2002.  We got her at the Petco on Beverly Blvd and actress Lori Petty was there and had her eye on her too.  I told Chip "We can't let Lori Petty get take our cat!!".  And then for years after, the running joke was "We should have freaking let Lori Petty take this cat.".   Britney was a pain in the ass, but she was my pain in the ass.  She would "attack" me and bite the crap out of me.  I bled.  It hurt.  But I honestly believe that was her way of playing.  She was sweet and cuddly when she wanted to be and she was loyal and loved me as much as I loved her.  She's been through a lot.  She was on anxiety medicine in LA until we got Callie to calm her down.  She had a tumor a few years ago that caused her to lose her tail.  She was diagnosed with diabetes about a year and a half ago and had to have insulin shots twice a day.  Because of her history of playing rough with me, we never let the girls get to close, so she wasn't a pet that we played with a loved on a lot.  She was just a fixture around here.  Always laying somewhere nearby and it was comforting and nice to have her around.  Over the summer while we were in CA and Hawaii we boarded her at the vet (who by the way said they would never watch her again since she was such a feisty pain in the ass!!!) and they found an abdominal mass which they wanted to operate on.  It would have cost thousands of dollars.  I would have done it in a heartbeat, but Chip was more rational about it and since she was 14 years old, diabetic, and not in the best health, it probably wasn't the best think for her.   So we went without and took her home knowing that it was only a mater of time.  I had been preparing the girls for the worst for months and I think it helped me deal with the loss too.  The morning of December 6th we woke up and found that she had deficated all over the house and was bleeding from her rear.   I didn't bother taking her in for an exam or checkup,  I knew it was her time.  So we said goodbye to my first baby.  Here are some pictures from that morning.

Still as beautiful as always.
Lily didn't take it very well, but wanted a picture with her.  It was so hard on her.
Dani kept telling Lily that it was okay because she was going to play with Callie and Tony.  Not sure where Dani got that from, but she is right and it was so sweet.
