Move In Day!

The whole move was quite a process. Of course we can't just hire a moving company like the rest of the world because that would be too easy (and quite pricey). So, since we have access to freight companies through the sign business we moved all our possessions as freight. I started packing up the apt in late April and Chip would bring boxes to the warehouse at work as I completed them. It really was a life saver -- I can't imagine trying to live and continue packing with an apt stacked up with literally 75+ boxes. How all the crap fit into that 1200 sq ft apt, I will never know!

Then 2 days before the actual move, we borrowed a huge truck and started moving all our furniture to work (where we had access to forklifts, pallets and a loading dock). Thankfully we had the guys at work to help Chip out (in fact it was weird not having Tommy and Glenn to move me into the TX house considering they moved me to Santa Barbara and back and then in and out of the La Cienega apt and Fullerton apt!) along with my dad who was a HUGE help in organizing the truck and getting it all together.

Here is a photo of the truck at work. It was a big-ass truck, but we had some work related items to ship as well, so that helped to fill it up!

The truck got to the house Friday morning at 7am. We had recruited some guys from the golf course to help; and my Dad who flew in the day before loaded up a truck full of carts and stuff to help move our belongings. He had it all planned out -- the truck would park at the end of the alley and they would use the carts to get our stuff down the alley and in through the garage since there are a few steps in the front yard. Now, when I say carts, we all assumed utility carts and push carts like the ones we used in LA to move out of the apt. So imagine my surprise when I went outside to wait for their arrival and say this coming down the alley:

He used golf carts!!! I thought this was hilarious!! But also extremely clever and very efficient! We had all our stuff off the truck and in the house in only a few hours! We had barely started to move in and were already seeing the perks of having a golf course!

The next few days my mom was around to help unpack and play with Lily so that I could get stuff done! It was a huge help and I got most the major things unpacked right away. . . but I am still working on some stuff. Slowly, but surely!
