I am sure a lot of you are curious about the weather so far here in Texas and I have to tell you that I am very pleasantly surprised! I had heard nothing but horror stories from people about the Texas heat and especially the humidity. Anyone who knows me real well knows that I hate humidity and I really hate to sweat! :)
Since we've been here North Texas has been in a bit of a heat wave -- temps in the 90s everyday, which is about 10 degrees above normal for this time of year. According to the local weatherman, Pete (my new Dallas Raines) on channel 8, the local ABC affiliate, this has been one of the hottest springs on record and nearly everyday we come 1 or 2 degrees shy of breaking a record high for the day usually set some 20 years ago. Pete also apologizes constantly to his loyal viewers for the awful humidity and muggy conditions we are experiencing. Likewise, people at the golf course have been apologizing for the heat and telling us stuff like, 'Oh ya'll picked a fine time to move here, with all this heat and humidity'.
Really? This is as bad as it gets? Hallelujah!! I can totally handle this. Even thought the thermometer in my car reads 95, I don't think it feels that warm at all! I do notice when I open the door from the air conditioned house, you get a blast of warm air, but I adjust rather quickly. I have been out and about running errands everyday, taken walks with Lily, played in the yard, etc . . . and barely even noticed the heat! Maybe because I was anticipating it to be SO terrible, it seems not that bad. . . I am not sure. I mean don't get me wrong, it is hot - 90 degrees is warm, it is just not that miserable sticky hotness I was mentally preparing myself for. If this is so bad that the local weatherdude is commenting on how bad it is, than I will survive here!!
Speaking of getting outside, here are some pictures I took the other day during a walk around the block with Lily. At the end of our street there is a little park area with a pond and fountains. It is super cute and a nicer place to hang out than the large sport park nearby because it has more shade and trees.
Lily all ready to go for a walk -- this is in front of our house. I'll try to get more house pics up soon.

That's good that you can handle the weather! I was wondering how the adjustment would be! Keep up the good blog! :-)
