Stormy Day

Yesterday started out the same as most Saturdays -- Chip went to school and Lily and I went to my Mom's to clean. But then later in the afternoon, right as I got Lily down for a nap, out of nowhere came the best thunderstorm we have had here in the last year! It was incredible, the amount of rain and the strength of the wind! (in fact I think we broke a recond for amount of rain in a single day, and I am sure you saw the collapse of the Dallas Cowboys practice facility on the news) It was pretty cool until the power went out for a split second -- but that was long enough for the white noise machine in Lily's room to shut off and wake her up! Arg, I was annoyed since she has a slight cold and really needed her sleep. Of course, 15 minutes later I realized I would have had to waken her anyway since the tornado sirens went off and we had to take cover in the closet! The storms continued throughout the day until midnight. The lightning in the evening was spectacular, the sky was almost constantly lit up! It was pretty cool and thankfully no more tornado warnings!

Lily ready to go to Grandmas
In the evening I brought out the water color paint book that Linda & Scott bought her for Easter. We hadn't had a chance to use it yet and since she was tired and sick I desperately needed something new and exciting to entertain her! This worked perfectly!

She was having more fun with the water than the paint. She would dunk her brush in the paint, but then the water before putting it to paper. So by the end she just had a soggy picture with no real color -- but she was having tons of fun!

"Yellow" is what she was exclaiming! She was stoaked she got yellow paint on the paper!

Thankfully after all the excitement yesterday and only a short nap, she slept for 12 straight hours last night.
