Lily seems to be feeling a lot better. She actually ate this morning and the constant snot faucet has reduced to a few occurrences here and there. The best part is that she was up and playing (which means not as much Mickey Mouse Clubhouse for me! Yeah!) and the random temper tantrums for no apparent reason (other than the fact that she is sick and miserable) seemed to slow this morning! So hopefully we continue on this path to wellness.
Can you see how chapped her poor face is? She wipes her nose across her face. I think it was really painful for her. But we greased her up last night before bed and it cleared up a lot!
Playing with Britney -- she calls her Britney now, instead of kitty cat.
She got all excited because the cats kissed
After dinner she wanted to play with the bowl I have on the kitchen table full of pine cones and ornaments. I was desperate to keep her entertained, so I agreed. After spending 4 whole days stuck in the house, I am willing to do pretty much anything to keep her entertained!
I took this picture this morning -- it is kinda hard to see, but she has a Kleenex sticking out of the top of her pajamas. I caught her last night putting tissue down her top! No, she is not trying to stuff her bra, she was copying me! Since we've just been at home, I have been lounging in pj pants and sweatshirts which normally don't have pockets. So I have been stashing clean tissue in my bra to have on hand when her nose started to run down her face. Apparently I have been reaching into my top a lot the last few days for tissue, so I guess she figured she'd keep some handy too! :)
This picture is kinda sad, but it represents part of daily life around here. Chip desperately trying to give Lily a hug and Lily desperately trying to get away.

Last night when it was raining/barely snowing we ran outside to check in out. Well, I ran outside -- Chip observed from the doorway!

I was so proud of her, because as she was taking the items in and out she was counting them. Chip and I both heard her take the tiny red balls and out and say "one, two, three" as she got out three of them! She also tried to lift the bowl and exclaimed "oh, heavy bowl." It is indeed a heavy bowl, but I've never heard her use that word before!

In other news, it is still cold here. So cold that everything is covered in ice and it has been raining freezing rain with a few snow flurries. It is really nothing to get excited about. But for me, who never lived anywhere but Southern California (except for 9 months in Tucson, AZ, and that is hardly cold weather terrain) this is so cool! I have taken tons of pictures of stuff with a thin layer of ice on it! I can only imagine what the neighbors thought if they happened to see me out front taking pictures of my flower beds! :) Chip actually stayed home for a bit this morning because he wanted to avoid the icy roads. The schools in our area are all closed and so are some of the businesses and corporations. I mean, it is not surprising that we get such cold weather conditions here, but it does not happen too often -- or so I am told. Chip eventually went into work around 9 o'clock when it became apparent that the ice was not going anywhere. It is 2pm as I type this and it is about 27 degrees outside and we just had some more rain. So it is going to be icy all day! Luckily Chip can take side streets to work and avoid bridges, overpasses and the freeway where they have been having tons of accidents!
The houses across the street -- see all the ice in the folds of the roof! I'm sure our house looked like that too, but it was too cold (and embarrassing) to walk across the street to take pics of our house, so I snuck this in! :)
I told you I took a bunch of pictures of stuff with ice! It will be interesting to read this in a few years after we have lived through a few more Texas winters and see if I still get so excited over a little ice!
