Yesterday was the neighborhood Halloween party. Actually there were two parties; one for the kids in the afternoon and then an adult party with a scary movie at night. We only went to the kids party! :) It was really nice. They had door prizes and raffles; tons of games set up for the kids -- bean bag toss, ring toss onto spider's legs, etc... They also had craft booths set up and a mini pumpkin patch with enough mini pumpkins for each kid to take home. I think next year Lily will love it -- she is a tad too young and way too shy this year to really participate. But she had fun watching "Minnie Mouse" and the "kitty cat" all afternoon. The best part was all the random people coming up to us and asking if they could take Lily's picture because they couldn't get over how cute she looked!! The guy taking pics for the neighborhood newspaper was also following her around trying to get a good shot, but of course she was not cooperating!! I really hope he got one when she wasn't watching him -- it would be so cute to see her in the paper! I was surprised that only two of the moms from the neighborhood playgroup were there -- so I didn't know that many people. Luckily Chip took a break from work just to come with us for a while before he had to go back to work. We did meet a family who moved here from the bay area in January and I got to introduce Chip to the 2 moms that were there from playgroup. It is nice to get to know some of the people in our neighborhood! I was a little apprehensive about getting her ready today by myself. Last time we dressed up my Mom was here to help and we kinda tag-teamed Lily to get her ponytails done. But I was so pleasantly surprised when once we had her costume on Lily looked at me and said "pretty hair?" She was all ready for those pigtails again! She sat so nicely in the chair and let me do her hair -- she even let me re-do them when they first turned out lop-sided!!
When we were done she grabbed her Elmo treat pail and was ready to go -- I couldn't believe how fast she picked up on the fact that she needed her treat pail for Halloween! She amazes me everyday! Unfortunately she has a runny nose again. I think it is due to her teething. Last month when her nose was runny it was the same time she was drooling, fussy and chewing on everything. And (knock on wood) she was never sick. So I think it is the same thing again since she is also drooling, fussy and chewing again. According to the "experts" a runny nose is a common side effect to teething. But is is super cute how she will carry a "towel" around to wipe her nose.
